The existing layout segmented key living spaces, limiting natural light flow and creating a d isconnected experience between the kitchen, living areas, and entry. Lower ceiling heights and constrained openings further reduced the sense of openness the homeowners were looking for.

To achieve the desired transformation, the project required thoughtful structural modifications while maintaining the integrity of the home, balancing function, flow, and long-term performance.

Structural Openings & Elevated Ceilings for Light and Flow

This renovation centered on opening the main level and redefining how each space connects:

- Removed the front entry closet to create a more welcoming and functional entry point

- Opened walls between the original living room and kitchen to establish a seamless, open-concept layout

- Removed stairwell walls to improve sightlines and allow natural light to travel freely throughout the space

- Raised ceiling heights from 8 feet to 9 feet, significantly enhancing the scale and openness of the home

- Expanded a 6-foot opening to a 10-foot span to install a new Andersen sliding door, strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor living
